Hello Mama,
Do you set New Year's resolutions? And if you do... are you still going strong with yours?
I usually set very simple, open-ended intentions. In 2025, my intention was to have courage in my spiritual life- to let others see Jesus in my actions, and hear me speak openly about my love of God's Word.
At some point last year, I heard someone say, "If I followed you all day, would I find Jesus?"
That one sentence pierced my heart. With that in mind, I wanted to show Jesus not only to strangers, but even more intentionally within my home.
So I made it a point to talk openly with my children, read Scripture with them, pray with them, sing with them, worship with them. My husband and I had more intentional spiritual conversations... we prayed together, read together, worshiped together.
Was it perfect?
Did I walk in courage every single day?
Nope.
But I can see how that one simple intention deeply shaped my walk with God-and my family's. My children began praying meaningful prayers, even in front of others. My 7-year old daughter started wanting to read her Bible almost daily. Outside my home, a friend joined me for Bible class and we've had rich, honest conversations about faith. And a few precious people even asked for help getting a Bible so they could start reading too.
I don't share any of this to boast. Not at all.
I share it to honor the Lord - because He is the one who works in us and through us.
This year - 2026 - I set a more measurable goal:
I want to read from God's Word daily.
Believe it or not, I've never made it all the way through the Bible in a year. It's something I've always wanted to do. I may or may not finish the Bible this year, but I am being intentional about daily reading.
Now that my kids are a little older (7 and 4), it feels a bit easier to find snippets of time. Some days I only manage a verse or two - like when our while family was down with the stomach bug. Other says, I can read a few chapters - like while waiting on yet another load of laundry to finish.
I'd love for you to join me in the resolution.
