The Calm After the Storm β›ˆ

Hello Mama,

It's May in South Florida. That means one things...

Florida is preparing for afternoon summer thunderstorms!!

No really... It rains almost every afternoon down here. Us native Floridians love it!

As Florida begins this preparation (and catches up from the dry season), we get some longer storms passing through.

The other night there was a LOUD thunderclap. And of course, the power flickered and my kids came running to me scared!

I forgot that my kids are not used to these storms like I am because I almost laughed at them... 😬

However, knowing they wanted to be near me for reassurance, we got a book and snuggled on the couch together.

Here's my reading tip:

Read a book to ease a tense moment. πŸ’•

My daughter chose the best book for the occasion. "I'm Not Scared, You're Scared". πŸ˜‚

She purposely chose it and they got to have a good laugh at themselves for being scared of a some thunder and the lights flickering.

Keep in mind the book does not need to fit the moment. A favorite book is a perfect choice too.

For this to work, you must be reading books regularly with your child. It must be a place of calm and regularity for you both.

Happy Reading!
