Hello Mama,

All your kids home for the summer… it’s hot… not as busy as you were doing the school year... and those close quarters? Starting to make everyone a little stir crazy?

The sibling squabbles might not have started yet — but we both know they’re coming.

At our house, it’s the copying that gets us. One kid copies another, the other gets annoyed, and before you know it — BOOM. Full-blown meltdown.

But not anymore. 🙌​
We’ve started using a trick that actually works — and it’s made a huge difference in our home!

Ready for it?

We picked a code word that means:
“Stop copying me. I’m done playing this game.”
As a family we talked about it. We knew it had to be something silly — something that would never naturally pop up in conversation.

Our phrase? “Toodle Fries.”​
(You can’t say it without smiling!)

👉 But here’s the key: You have to practice it ahead of time — before the frustration hits.

Each child takes turns being copied and then says the magic phrase. Everyone else has to stop right away — including Mama and Daddy! 😂

It’s turned what used to be a frustration into something playful and empowering. My kids feel like they have control and are listened to — and that’s a win for everyone.
